This is an interesting chain from the Late Ottoman era which has beautiful filigree pendants, individually soldered to the handmade chain.  Now the chain is not long enough to be a necklace. I think this may have been part of a headdress decoration, such as the one shown in the picture from (Les Costumes Populaires de la Turquie’- Osman Hamdi Bey, 1873). Some enterprising person added the closure to make it into a wearable bracelet/ anklet. The piece in its entirety is made of silver and has a warm gold gilt.

Length is 19 cm (7 1/2"). Width is 1.8 cm (3/4"). Weight is 14.8 g.
